Descripción del Tour:
Join us at 10 am at the Tangol Office situated in the San Telmo neighborhood. Our tour will commence, exploring the iconic spots significant to Jorge Bergoglio’s life. This guided 3-hour tour will take us to churches, educational institutions, and his cherished Club Atletico San Lorenzo de Almagro, among other notable locations in Buenos Aires. Our first stop is his childhood home in the Flores neighborhood, where he lived with his family. Next, we’ll visit the schools he attended, including the Instituto Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia & Universidad del Salvador, as well as the Iglesia del Salvador. We'll also stop by the church from his youth: The Basilica de San Jose de Flores. It was here that he experienced his "divine call" and began his journey in the Church, famously saying: "(at that exact moment) I immersed myself in God’s mercy". This is where Jorge Bergoglio chose his path to priesthood. Moving forward, we’ll visit the Basílica de María Auxiliadora y San Carlos, where he was baptized. Additionally, we’ll delve into the history while enjoying a panoramic view of the Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro, a team Pope Francis passionately supports. Our tour will continue to the San Ignacio de Loyola Church in the Montserrat district, constructed by Jesuits in 1675. This is the oldest Church in Buenos Aires and forms part of the “Manzanas de las luces”. Next, we’ll head to Plaza de Mayo, where the main Catholic temple of Argentina stands: The Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires. This significant 16th-century edifice, declared a historical monument in 1942, is where the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Bergoglio, led important Masses. It was also here where devotees gathered in anticipation of the announcement that he would be named Supreme Pontiff.
